NH Priorities in the West of Wycombe

ASB

We receive lots of complaints around vehicle ASB.  A common theme in selfish and inconsiderate parking by neighbours and careless driving. Frequently problems are caused by vehicle traders or garages in parking vehicles on local roads.  Frequently cars do not have tax, insurance or a licence. We had a meeting with representatives from DVLA and have had it agreed that there will be more enforcement from them in dealing with untaxed cars.   Earlier this week a day of action working with our Roads Policing Colleagues resulted in sixteen cars being recovered for no insurance.  More dates are planned.

Downley, especially the Pastures has seen a rise in reports of ASB.   This includes youths on e-bikes and scooters, large groups of youths gathering in service roads, the smoking of cannabis.  A number of reports from different people has led to the Neighbourhood Team getting involved.  We have been liaising with the Council and Red Kite Housing to identify offenders.  We are collating evidence to see if there are actions that can be put in place to stop the behaviours.  This will include issuing CPW and CPN’s and even closure orders and more focussed patrols in the area.

There have also been issues with motorbikes in Booker Park, Squirrel Lane and at Desborough Rec which we will be looking into. We have identified persons of interest and will be looking to use ASB powers to reduce the impact on the community.

A male in Sands was issued a CPW for his constant harassment of public officials whilst another male was given one for being found in a car where NOS had been inhaled.

Speeding

The team is working to promote a cultural shift in how speeding is viewed. Much like drink driving, officers want the community to see speeding as a socially unacceptable behaviour. Residents are encouraged to challenge friends and family who drive above the limit—helping to create a collective responsibility for safer roads.

The team will continue to monitor local speeding hotspots and assess where future enforcement should be prioritised, including the potential deployment of the Road Safety Van in high‑risk areas.  Officers were out and about last week focusing on areas where we have received complaints.  Seven people were issued tickets or reported for speeding.  Areas focused on included Chapel Lane and locations in Downley.  Some residents have expressed concerns of the standard of driving on Hithercroft Road which we will be looking at. 

Supporting Enforcement Technology:  The area continues to benefit from both fixed speed cameras and mobile safety vans, which act not only as enforcement tools but also as highly visible deterrents to drivers who may otherwise put themselves and others at risk.  May’s results across these sites included:

567 offences recorded by fixed cameras

592 offences recorded at mobile enforcement sites

These figures highlight the continued need for active speed monitoring across the community.

Drugs

The Wycombe West Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to take proactive action to tackle drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour across the area. Through targeted operations, high-visibility patrols and partnership working, officers remain committed to addressing the issues that matter most to residents.

Our officers continue to maintain a visible presence within the community, carrying out targeted checks, engaging with young people and responding to concerns raised by local residents. This proactive approach helps deter offending, gather intelligence and identify those involved in the possession and supply of illegal drugs.  Work carried out with the NH Proactive Team has resulted in close to £80,000 worth of cash being recovered over the last 3 months, along with large amounts of Heroin, Crack Cocaine and Cannabis.  We are now being even more intrusive with seizing vehicles that have been involved in drugs and looking at opportunities to seize and sell at auction when the criteria is met.

Recently, officers executed a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at an address in Sands. During the search, suspected drugs and large amounts of money were located and a male was arrested. Further enquiries remain ongoing as part of the investigation.

We have noticed that the postal service is being used to deliver drugs. 

Following reports of persistent anti-social behaviour connected to an address on Rynn Close, the Neighbourhood Team gathered evidence and successfully obtained a Partial Closure Order. This order places restrictions on the property and helps protect local residents from ongoing nuisance and criminality and is still being checked and that the conditions of the order are being complied with.  We are looking at other locations so if you fear that there are drug dealers at work, report this in.

It is in everyone’s interest to live in a nice area, achieving this goal is a community effort that requires residents to look out for each other and remain vigilant. Police will not always be around to witness suspicious or harmful activity, so we need you to speak up and report if you do see something concerning, whether it be for your own safety or someone else’s.
